The Imperfect Disciples strives to be an online community that encourages lively debates, discussions, and fellowship. The main blog will feature submissions from Christian writers on a variety of topics. In addition, the newly created discussion forum will provide a space for readers and contributors to interact on a variety of topics. The goal is to involve Christians and Non-Christians alike to join in the conversation. The goals of this community are as follows:
- Discipleship – Above all else, we want this site to be a place Christians can turn to as they try to mold their lives in the model set by Jesus Christ.
- Edification - We want this site to uplift our fellow Christians morally, intellectually, and spiritually.
- Study - Hopefully, our main contributors will inspire our readers to pick up a Bible and study it for themselves. It is our belief that there is substitute for personal study time.
- Community - We want to create a safe space for Christians and Non-Christians alike to discuss their beliefs, doubts, fears, and questions. We want this to be a place where beliefs can be expressed, discussed, and refined.
- Fun – Hopefully along the way people will find it enjoyable to interact with one another in this environment.
While the contributors of this site all adhere to the following Statement of Faith we encourage readers from all walks of life to join in the community.
Statement of Faith
The creators, editors, and contributors to the Imperfect Disciples Community all adhere to the following beliefs:
- Scripture: The Divine inspiration of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and as the Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
- The Holy Trinity: The Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- The Nature of Christ: At the same time Christ was in every sense eternal Deity and sinless human. Christ was born of the Virgin Mary. In his substitutionary death on the cross, a sinless Christ gave his life for all of mankind. Subsequently, Christ was resurrected from the dead and interacted with mankind before His ascension to Heaven. He will return someday in the second coming.
- We believe in the total depravity of man through the fall.
- We believe that Christ made possible salvation through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and that such salvation is the product of divine grace rather than works.
- We believe in the everlasting bliss of the saved (Heaven) and the everlasting suffering of the lost (Hell).
- We believe that in His Great Commission Christ was directing us to build relationships with the lost and lay the foundation for them to become His Disciples. Rather than counting “conversion experiences” we understand that this dedication to discipleship may entail a life-long relationship with others.
The current lineup of contributors at Imperfect Disciples is as follows; Clark Goble, Todd French, Mike Howard and Russ Dam.
While we do invite and welcome comments you should keep in mind that your first comment must be approved by our admin and may take a few hours to appear online. We also reserve the right to edit or delete any comments that are found to be poor taste … excessive bad language is sure to get your comment booted. While debate is strongly encouraged, please keep in mind that so is civility. Participation in the discussion forums is also contingent upon this civility.
Thanks,
The Imperfect Disciples
